—At an informal meeting of the Foreign Ministers held at 4 p.m. on July 23, Byrnes stated that he had expressed the views of the United States on the subject of reparations from Germany to Molotov at their meeting on the morning of July 23 and that he had subsequently informed Eden of this talk (see post, page 295). No other record of this Byrnes–Eden conversation has been found.
