The President has assured me that he would take every precaution to safeguard the life of ex-President Leguía, saying that he had sent him to the penitentiary for safety. Attitude is one of disclaimer of mob’s action. Chargé preferred grows out of proceedings on the night of the 24th. He said that friends were trying to induce the ex-President to go abroad.
