No official record of the conversation during this luncheon meeting has been found. The Log, ante, p. 659, does not mention Colonel Roosevelt as a participant, but from Elliott Roosevelt, p. 208, it appears that he was there and that the principal topic of conversation was the language of the proposed communiqué to the press respecting [Page 739] the conversations with Inönü.
