Peace-feeler approaches from the Axis nations 1
1. In an aide-mémoire of June 18, 1942, the British Embassy informed the Department that during the past few months there had come to the attention of the British authorities a number of indirect approaches from persons claiming to represent alleged anti-Nazi groups in Germany. The British Government inquired as to any information the Department of State might have of this nature. On June 23, the Secretary of State informed the British Ambassador orally that there had been no such peace feelers of a tangible nature reaching this country.
