We have just learned that two of the Brothers of the Christian School of Zacatecas have been killed and eleven imprisoned. Please bring the matter to the attention of the Constitutionalist authorities at once, and use your influence to secure the release of the Brothers in prison, and secure the punishment of those responsible for the killing of the two killed. Also make inquiry about other religious orders, urging upon the authorities the imperative importance of giving protection to persons and property of those engaged in religious teaching. Please report whether you have any way of assisting those at Zacatecas. American Consul Saltillo has been instructed in same sense.
