Department’s April 4. The President expressed gratification that our Government was disposed to consider favorably his [omission in transmission]. * * * While discussing in some detail the school, he expressed the opinion that all Central America should enjoy the privilege of entering its students under certain rules and regulations.

He made clear, however, that his first and greatest desire was to see Salvador put on a gold basis, and thought the matter could be arranged. * * *
