The British Ambassador to the Secretary of State.

My Dear Mr. Secretary: With reference to my letter of yesterday on the subject of the chargéship of United States interests in Mexico, I beg to inform you that I have this morning heard from Sir L. Garden that my telegram of the 23rd of April only reached him on the 29th and that he at once notified to the Minister of Foreign Affairs the appointment of the Brazilian Minister, and handed over American interests to the latter.

Sir L. Garden adds that it will always be a great pleasure to him to lend to the Brazilian Minister any assistance in his power.
