The Secretary of State to certain American Consuls in Mexico.

In view of relations existing between this Government and the Huerta Government, you and such members of your staff as are American citizens are directed to leave your post at the earliest opportunity. Place consular offices and archives with coats of arms, flags and seals in custody of the consular officer of France and proceed to the United States or place of safety, bringing code, current accounts and fee stamps with you. Procure vouchers for transportation expenses of your family and instruct members of staff to do likewise.
- Sent to Aguascalientes, Guadalajara, Hermosillo, Tapachula, San Luis Potosi, Tuxpam, Mazatlan, and Guaymas, adding to the last three, “Naval vessel instructed to afford transportation.”↩

- Sent to Puebla and Oaxaca; same to Guanajuato, adding “code” after “bringing.”↩
- Sent to Chihuahua; some to Saltillo, Monterey and Tampieo, omitting last sentence; same to Durango, substituting Tapia and Torreon for Parral. Same to Hermosillo down to “general situation”; then read: “This telegram supersedes that of April 24, 9 a.m. Agent Guaymas has been appropriately instructed direct.”↩
