124. I have just returned from the Constitutionalist camp where, in the presence of Robles Dominguez and also Silliman, I held a long conference with Carranza who notwithstanding my most arduous efforts and tenacious arguments did not even accept the idea of any arrangement with Carbajal to save the situation which is really pressing. I have been happy enough to find at least a formula accepted by Carranza for the peaceful occupation of the capital, which I will communicate to you as soon as all details are completed.
