File No. 817.51/706.
The Minister of Nicaragua to the Secretary of State.
memorandum.
The Minister of Nicaragua presents his compliments to his excellency the Secretary of State and begs to inform his excellency that to-day he has received a cable from his Government advising [Page 953] that finally an agreement has been reached with the New York bankers, Messrs. Brown Brothers & Co. and J. & W. Seligman & Co., who will furnish the Government five hundred thousand cordobas in order to pay the salaries past due.
In view of this new agreement I respectfully request of your excellency to suspend for the time being all negotiations and consider it unnecessary to call upon the bankers or their representatives.
