756. I transmit herewith a translation of the note addressed to the Minister for Foreign Affairs by the Minister of War and Marine:

In reply to your note No. 549 of to-day requesting that orders be given to the end that Samuel Cantu be set at liberty I have the honor to inform you that telegraphic orders were to-day sent to General Quintana to direct that Samuel Cantu be immediately set absolutely at liberty and to report that this order has been complied with without any excuse or pretext whatsoever. I have the honor to transmit this to you for your information and such action as may be deemed appropriate. I avail myself of this occasion [etc.]
