The Spanish Ambassador to the Secretary of State.
Washington, July 12, 1914.
Mr Secretary: I have the honor to inform your excellency that it appears from a telegram I have just received from the Minister of Spain in Mexico that the Constitutionalists at Zacatecas have shot three priests and expelled about twenty. Senor Cologan adds that several Sisters of St. Therese are in hiding at that place.
I beg your excellency kindly to take an interest in the fate of those unfortunate people and commend to your attention more particularly the Sisters of St. Therese of whom several are Spanish.
