My Dear Mr. Ambassador: I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your personal note of the 1st instant, in which, with reference to your note of the 30th ultimo, you advise the Department that, on April 29 last, Sir Lionel Garden had turned over to the Brazilian Minister at Mexico City the charge of American interests.

In reply I beg to ask that you will be so good as to convey to Sir Lionel Carden an expression of this Government’s thanks for his services in this matter.
