2993. Department’s 2672, April 28, 3 p.m.63 concerning United Press service in India. We took this matter up promptly with the Foreign Office, stressing its importance. Foreign Office, on considering the matter, found it necessary to consult the Government of India. Foreign Office is now awaiting word from the Government of India. We have been assured by the Foreign Office that it will do everything it can to give us a definite reply as soon as possible.
