1275. I took up with the Foreign Office this morning the subject matter of the Department’s telegram No. 1052, February 17, 1 p.m. and was given oral assurances by Sir Orme Sargent55 that appropriate instructions would be sent to the British Ambassador at Ankara.56 He welcomed the suggestion and remarked that one of the principal problems at present with regard to chrome above ground is the need of vigilance to avoid “pilfering” and to hasten transport from the mines to ports.
