9. Department’s 1797 [1727] April 25, 2 p.m., received May 3, both reports referred to in Department’s telegram inaccurate. Committee composed of both Poles and Jews appointed by Polish Diet has [Page 749] just returned from making investigation on the ground. Some 400 pages of testimony taken and now being digested. I am promised full reply as soon as it is ready and shall report further.
