The President approves of including in the protocol the subjects covered by your amendments, which read as follows:

If the Mediators fail to secure the consent of the Mexican delegates to the last provision, leaving the question of evacuation to be arranged with the provisional government, you will please to have that subject passed for the present. The President is not willing to fix a definite time for evacuation.
