Peking , July 18, 1914 .

The loan negotiations with the five-power group have reached deadlock, Minister for Foreign Affairs having last night definitely informed the representatives of banks’ interests that the Government will not give option for the currency loan, which they demand as a condition to their granting the loan of £8,000,000 which the Chinese Government requires for the purpose of discharging short-term obligations.
