632. Consul, Nuevo Laredo, reports that he considers General Quintana’s reply to demand for release of Cantú to be a diplomatic refusal and that he is informed that one of the Generals has stated it was not only intended to hold Cantú, but to execute him.

Bring to the attention of the appropriate authorities with renewed demand for release of Cantú and intimate that unless this demand is immediately complied with, this Government will find it necessary to consider drastic measures in the premises.
