My Dear Mr. Secretary: With reference to previous correspondence, I beg to inform you that Sr. Armendaiz telegraphs me under the date of the 9th instant, that the Constitutionalists at Monterey have forced the representative of his firm in that town to [Page 810] give them a draft of $12,000 on Sr. Armendaiz, and if this draft is not paid the agent will be put in the penitentiary.
I beg to call your attention once more to this case, and to request you with the utmost earnestness to exert your influence with the Constitutionalists to avoid this robbery with which Mr. Armendaiz is menaced.
