Sir: I beg to confirm in writing what Mr. Hale, at my request, stated to you orally, that the President will be pleased to place his yacht, the Mayflower, at your disposal on the afternoon of Monday, February 14, to convey the remains of the late Ambassador Nabuco from Washington to Hampton Roads, where the remains will be transferred to the cruiser Montana, which will convey them, escorted by yourself, to Rio de Janeiro.
