Sir: The department acknowledges the receipt of your No. 437, of the 2d instant, with which you inclose a copy and translation of a note just received from Mr. Van Swinderen, in which he advises you that the Netherlands Government proposes Wednesday, the 30th of May, 1911, as the date for the meeting of the international opium conference at The Hague.

You will inform the minister for foreign affairs that this Government is highly gratified that the date for the assembling of the conference has been determined upon. The proposed date is wholly convenient to the United States.
