The Acting Secretary of State to the Mexican Chargé.

No. 594.]

Sir: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of Mr. Azpíroz’s note No. 130, of the 11th ultimo, with one inclosure, from which it appears that the Mexican Government is not disposed to permit Dr. J. F. Harrison, an inspector of the Public Health and Marine-Hospital Service, stationed at Progreso, Mexico, to make official disinfection of vessels leaving that port for the United States.

In reply I have the honor to inform you that copies of the ambassador’s note and of its inclosure have been sent to the Secretary of the Treasury for the information of the Surgeon-General of the Public Health and Marine-Hospital Service.

Accept, etc.,

Alvey A. Adee.
