194. ReLegs No. 192, May 5, 3 p.m.97. Grafftey-Smith just informed me that he has received his instructions to support the proposal [Page 891] for a United States airfield at Dhahran and is writing to the Saudi Government to that effect.98

I am therefore requesting permission of the King to visit him with Colonel Connor May 9. Will confirm date later.

Repeated to Cairo as No. 113 for Colonel Connor.
