In replying to the King’s communication re Syria and Lebanon you should inform him of this Govt’s appreciation of his message and assure him that careful note has been taken of his views in the matter. You may add that this Govt will continue to work toward a settlement of the Levant crisis which will take full account of the independence and sovereignty of Syria and Lebanon.
