No American record of this conversation has been found. According to the account in Pickersgill, p. 513, from which the information set forth above has been derived, Roosevelt told Mackenzie King that he had sent a message to Stalin asking for a bilateral meeting. Roosevelt was concerned about Churchill’s possible reaction to the proposal.
