Roosevelt–Churchill meeting, 5:30 p.m. ¹

^1. The time of this meeting is given as 5:30 in the Department of State minutes, post, p. 931. The Log, however, states (ante, p. 844): “The President returned to the Citadel at 5:45 p.m., at which time he had a conference with Secretary Hull and Mr. Eden until 7:30 p.m. This conference was resumed between 10:00 and 11:00 p.m.” No separate minutes of a 10 p.m. meeting have been found, and in view of the reference to the lateness of the hour in the final paragraph of the Department of State minutes it is possible that those minutes cover the discussion which took place between 10 and 11 p.m.
