The information set forth above is derived from the Log, ante, p. 528, which adds that the conversation lasted until 1 a.m., January 20. According to Elliott Roosevelt, p. 99, Churchill advanced the proposal that the French provisional regime might best be left exclusively to de Gaulle, but the President dismissed the subject “almost peremptorily”.
