69. The German Ambassador this morning said that the French had given an interpretation to the pact which was not acceptable to Germany. France advised the Little Entente concerning the pact to [Page 420] reassure them and to prevent their opposition to it.53 The interpretation of the pact in this communication was the subject of the Ambassador’s remarks to the effect that Germany would not subscribe to it.
