Situation apparently becoming more grave and in view large Red Cross personnel and difficulty attending evacuation should that become necessary I request immediate despatch of nearest American naval vessel. There are controlling reasons why despatch of vessel should not be given publicity. See Hollyday’s 144.⁵⁴
