Department has received through the Greek Legation an intimation from Venizelos of the desirability of the Allies issuing some statement indicating their intention to stand behind Greece and see that her rights are protected, and at the same time conveying an expression of their appreciation of Greece’s entry into the war on the side of the Allies. The Department desires to know whether the British Government has received a similar message and if so intends to make any such declaration.
