2445. For Sheldon [from War Trade Board]:

No. 1494. The division upon a fifty-fifty basis between the United States and Great Britain of the tonnage which has been acquired by either country from Norway and Holland by agreement and requisitioning has been extended to Norwegian sailing vessels1 and 23,000 tons of such vessels now lying off the east coast of South America have been transferred by the Shipping Board to British control to be used in carrying essential commodities from South America to Great Britain. These vessels will carry linseed, tallow and other animal fats.
