Memorandum of the Secretary of State
The Minister of Sweden, at my request, called upon me at 6.15 p.m. at my residence.
I informed him that, after conferring with the President relative to the communication of the Austro-Hungarian Government addressed to the President in relation to peace negotiations and an armistice, I wished to inform him that the communication would be submitted to the Governments with which this Government is associated in the war, for their consideration, and that he was at liberty to so advise his Government.[Page 430]
The Minister thanked me for the information and said that he would immediately cable his Government to that effect.
