5398. The Commission of Foreign Affairs of the Chamber of Deputies after a general study of the political situation and the diplomatic negotiations now taking place unanimously voted yesterday the following order of the day:

The Committee on Foreign Affairs has examined the reply made by Mr. Robert Lansing in the name of President Wilson to the [Page 356] proposition of the German Government. It has given its approval to this reply and counts upon the Government to accept in the name of France no armistice which would fail to assure the satisfaction and the guarantees to which the victorious armies of the Entente have a right.
