Minister O’Brien to the Secretary of State
Copenhagen, October 19, 1905.
Sir: Referring to my No. 15 of August 11 last, and the subject of the Danish West India Islands therein referred to.
I have just chanced to find in the Chicago Tribune of the 4th instant a discussion of the same subject which is so interesting and important that I beg to enclose the clipping herewith,8 although you may already have seen it.
We may fairly assume that the Danish Minister in Washington is familiar with this publication and that perhaps it has already been sent forward to the Minister of Foreign Affairs here.
In view of the outline of truth contained in the article its publication will no doubt be considered unfortunate. Nothing new has occurred in connection with the subject since my former despatch.
