Sir: Referring to your undated telegram No. 733 received by the Department, November 17, 1916,3 and previous correspondence concerning the refusal of the Italian Government to release Joseph Nicholas Orocchi from the performance of military service in the Italian Army, you are informed that the Department is in receipt of a letter of February 27, 1917, from Representative John J. Eagan, of New Jersey, in which he communicates the request of Mr. Orocchi’s relatives in this country that the Italian Government be asked to assign him to a hospital or ambulance corps.

You will please present this request to the Italian Government and report the result.
