Sir: Referring to the embassy’s note of the 16th ultimo, communicating to the Department a report that Mexican insurgents intended to disguise themselves as soldiers of the Mexican Federal Army and fire on American soldiers on duty near the frontier, I have the honor to inform you that I am advised by the Department of Justice, to which the information contained in the above mentioned note was [Page 448] transmitted, that a copy of the note will be furnished to officers of the Department of Justice in Texas.
