Sir: The department has received your note of the 12th instant, inclosing a copy of the warrant of arrest, issued June 13 last, by the examining magistrate of the civil and criminal court of Como against Mr. Porter Charlton.

In reply I have the honor to inform you that the entire matter is now in the hands of the court, to whom all documents, papers, etc., which the Italian Government may have to offer in the case should now be presented.

The copy of the warrant is returned herewith.
