Sir: I am instructed by my Government to convey to you and, through you, to the Government and people of the United States, the warm thanks of the Government and people of China for the hospitalities and courtesies extended to Prince Tsai-t’ao during his stay in the United States. His imperial highness was exceedingly pleased with the results of his mission to this country, and greatly impressed with the friendly feeling everywhere shown by the American people toward China. To the thanks of the Imperial Government he directs me to add those of his own.
