The Secretary of State to the Argentine Chargé.

Sir: I have the pleasure to inform you that the President has telegraphed his congratulations to President Figueroa on this centennial anniversary of the Argentine Republic.

In renewing the splendid achievements and progress of your country during this historic epoch, the Government and people of the United States appreciate the gratification your countrymen must feel upon this interesting commemoration of the inception of the Republic. I voice the sentiments of the people of the United States, as well as of this Government, in saying that we rejoice with Argentina to-day and unite our good wishes for a long era of peace and prosperity.
