Sir: Referring to your telegram of the 16th instant concerning the fears of the Yaqui Copper Company of depredations by Yaqui Indians at Santo Niño, Sonora, I inclose herewith for your information a copy of the company’s letter of the 15th instant,a giving further information in the matter and alleging that the authorities of the State of Sonora do not exert themselves as they ought toward protecting the lives and property of American citizens engaged in mining in that state.
The Department would be pleased to have a report from you of the facts of the case.
