Sir: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your note of the 5th instant, protesting against certain proceedings taken by the [Page 963] police and in the municipal court of Pensacola against the captain and members of the crew of the Spanish steamship Leonora.
I have the honor to say in reply that I have asked the governor of Florida for a report on the matter, on the receipt of which the question will be considered.
