400 cases petroleum, each case containing two 5-gallon cans, and were informed by Messrs. Norton & Son, agents of the steamer here, that [Page 551] by order of the British Government the Beatrice had to discharge her cargo in lighters at Port Natal, and that, according to the terms of the bills of lading, the voyage had to be considered ended.

We respectfully request you to take such steps as you may deem proper to protest against the action of the British Government.
