No. 507.
Mr. Fish to Mr. Westenberg.

Sir: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your note of the 11th instant, suggesting, on behalf of your government, the expediency of an arrangement by which judgments rendered by courts in one country may be carried into effect in another.

In reply I have to state that, as the subject is of great importance in itself aud quite novel to this Department, it will require deliberate consideration. This it shall receive in deference to the enlightened and practical government from which the suggestion emanates.

Accept, &c,

HAMILTON FISH.
