On March 27, 1952, the Export-Import Bank authorized a credit of $2.6 million in favor of the Empresa de Energia Eléctrica in Medellín to finance the purchase of supplies and equipment in connection with the construction of a hydroelectric power generating plant and related facilities on the Rio Grande River near Medellín. On September 10, 1953, the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) authorized a loan of $14.35 million to the Colombian Government to finance the construction and rehabilitation of highways in Colombia.
