Within framework of US plans for future of Italian Air Force (see cable from Military Attaché³⁰ here to War Department Mar No. 84 dated 12 February 1946³¹) Embassy supports MA’s (Military Attaché’s) view that US position in Italy would be strengthened by using surplus US aviation equipment at present available in European Theater to equip Italian Air Forces.
