The Acting Secretary of State to the Diplomatic Representatives in the American Republics Except Argentina

In reply to a question from the press concerning the reported request of the Argentine Government for a meeting of Foreign Ministers the Department today issued the following statement:

“No communication has as yet been received by the Government of the United States. However, in the event that a communication such as that reported in the press is received either through a government which maintains relations with the Argentine Republic or through the Pan American Union the Government of the United States will, of course, exchange views fully with the governments of the other American republics before taking any decision.”
