The Appointed Minister to Saudi Arabia (Eddy) to the Secretary of State

274. Yesterday Jordan and I agreed to recommend to our Governments: (1) Additional 7,000 tons of grain and therefore entire 50,000 tons grain supplied in 1944 should be included in subsidy part of Joint Supply program, (2) reserve stocks referred to in joint note to King (reDepts 149, July 26, 5 p.m., paragraph A) can be [procured?] and held at Jidda in warehouse supervised by MESC if Saudi Government wishes to have this done to guarantee readiness of supplies and to give assurance against shipping delays. If Saudi Government objects to MESC controlled warehouse for reserves whose delivery is not yet due, stocks can be held elsewhere in Red Sea areas under Allied control.

Repeated Cairo for AEMME.
