The British Ambassador (Halifax) to the Secretary of State

Aide-Mémoire

His Majesty’s Ambassador presents his compliments to the Secretary of State, and has the honour to refer to the Department’s aide-mémoire of November 29th last46 suggesting that immediate consideration be given to ways and means whereby the British and United States Governments might assist the Government of Saudi Arabia in fiscal and currency problems, and that informal discussion to this end be held in Washington.

2. His Majesty’s Government in the United Kingdom agree to this proposal, and instructions have been issued to the United Kingdom Treasury Delegation in Washington to get in touch with representatives of the United States Treasury to this end.47
