472. Department’s 243, April 21. Although Legation has approached Foreign Minister several times regarding renewal of agreement on American Military Mission to Iranian Gendarmerie no formal reply has been received. However, Colonel Schwarzkopf today received letter from Minister of Interior stating his desire that agreement be renewed for one additional year. I shall continue to press Saed for formal statement.
